Lynwood United Brings Health Resources and Cultural Celebration to Families

Hundreds of families recently gathered at Firebaugh High School for Lynwood United: Celebrating Latino Heritage, a health and wellness event designed to provide essential resources to Lynwood Unified community members while honoring Latino culture and traditions.

Hosted by the Equity, Access and Instructional Services Department in partnership with the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA) Cares, the October 11 event combined access to vital support services with cultural celebration of Latino Heritage, empowering families in mind, body and spirit.

Attendees received free health screenings, mental health resources, immunizations, flu shots, eyeglasses, dental cleanings, diapers, groceries and more, donated through local organizations, health professionals and community partners.

The celebration also featured vibrant performances from the LevelUp Lynwood cheer teams from Abbott, Helen Keller and Roosevelt elementary schools, as well as Cesar Chavez Middle School, and a performance by Lynwood High School Danza Mexica students, who highlighted Latino heritage by connecting with their Indigenous roots through traditional dance.

Lynwood Unified is committed to providing equitable access to wellness resources and celebrating the cultures that enrich the community. By combining culturally responsive engagement with educational opportunities, events like Lynwood United empower families, celebrate diversity and strengthen the foundation for student success.
