Hundreds of Lynwood Unified families, students, staff and community members descended on Firebaugh High School to watch students from across the District show off their dance skills, artistic abilities and musical talents as part of the 10th annual Arts Festival and District Showcase.
The festival – which featured live performances, hands-on activities and art displays from every Lynwood Unified school – provided the community with an opportunity to celebrate students’ achievements over the school year and experience Lynwood Unified’s unique Visual and Performing Arts program offerings.
The event featured a cultural performance by INCA, the Peruvian Ensemble from the Music Center, and show-stopping performances from the bands at Firebaugh and Lynwood high schools and Cesar Chavez and Hosler middle schools.
Washington, Abbott, Lindbergh, Wilson and Will Rogers elementary schools showcased their dance troupes while the Lynwood High Dance Ensemble and Firebaugh High Dance Team entertained with dazzling routines. The Firebaugh High Young Actors Guild added to the entertainment with a delightful comedic performance.
The festival culminated with a lively Conga Kids Dance competition, where Roosevelt Elementary School claimed the top spot, followed by Will Rogers Elementary and Rosa Parks Elementary, securing second and third place, respectively. The fifth-grade competition teams from Roosevelt and Will Rogers will advance to the Conga Kids Final Competition at LA Live on May 16.
