In a show of unity, gratitude and togetherness, more than 800 Lynwood community members gathered at Firebaugh High School on November 23 to celebrate Lynwood United, a community wellness event designed to ensure access to a healthy lifestyle for all, regardless of financial circumstances.
Hosted in partnership with the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA) Cares, Lynwood United provided essential services to families to help meet the community’s needs this Thanksgiving season.
Families received free eyeglasses, vaccinations, health screenings, dental cleanings, groceries and diapers, all donated by local organizations, health professionals and community leaders. The event also featured a live DJ, food trucks and gift card giveaways, creating an exciting and engaging atmosphere, creating positive change and uplifting families.
Lynwood United reflects the District's ongoing commitment to ensuring equitable access to the resources and support needed for families and students to thrive. By fostering a stronger, more connected community, families are empowered on their journeys toward wellness and success. Timed just ahead of Thanksgiving, Lynwood United underscores the District's commitment to supporting families and promoting a spirit of generosity and unity year-round.
On behalf of Lynwood Unified, we extend our warmest wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving to our families, students, staff and community!
